About Us
A Different Way of Living

A few years ago, I left behind the life I knew and came to Portugal in search of something different.

I wanted a simpler, quieter life, closer to the natural world. A life where mornings could begin without hurry, where I could feel the seasons change, grow my own food, meet new people, and have enough time to notice the small things.

More than anything, I wanted space to breathe.

As I searched for a place to build that life, I kept returning to one essential idea: I wanted to live beside water.

There has always been something about rivers that draws me in. The sound of flowing water, the shifting reflections of light, the movement that never quite stops. The freedom to sit on the bank for an hour and feel no need to do anything else.

Water has a way of changing the atmosphere of a place. It gives it a rhythm of its own.

When I arrived on the banks of the Alva River, surrounded by the mountains and forests of central Portugal, I felt an immediate connection. The breeze through the trees, the birds, the water, the quietness of the landscape—it all seemed to belong together.

I knew I had found somewhere I wanted to stay.

What began as a personal search gradually became a home. Today, that home welcomes hundreds of guests from around the world each year.

I still live here, and sharing this place has become part of what makes it special to me. It is an invitation to experience, even for a few days, the slower way of life that first brought me here.

A Ponte Secret Garden is not a large resort built around schedules and activities. It is a place where you can make the day your own.

There are comfortable, well-kept rooms, hot showers, good, nourishing food, and the natural landscape just outside your door.

You might begin with coffee beside the water, walk into the mountains, spend an afternoon in the garden, take a kayak onto the river, or share a meal with people you have only just met. You might also choose to do very little.

That is part of the experience.

A river to return to. Space to breathe. A comfortable place to rest. Food made to be enjoyed. And time that belongs entirely to you.

Some places invite you to visit nature.

Here, you are invited to live a little closer to it.

Welcome to the place I chose to call home.

I am glad to share it with you.
